Padron Peppers: Chilli Roulette

Stovies was recently challenged to decide what our favourite recipe with the fewest ingredients is. It was very tempting to say wine and topple the whole challenge with a single ingredient but alas, we’ll play by the rules.

One in thirty of the peppers is fiery hot, the rest are pleasantly peppery so it really is like roulette. When you’ve got a hot one you really know it!

For a tasty snack to munch whilst watching the fireworks on Bonfire Night all you need is:

1 Bag Padron peppers (available in Waitrose)
Olive oil
Salt

Heat up the oil in a wok, you’ll need to have about 1cm in the bottom of the pan. Throw in the peppers, stir regularly so that they all get cooked and start to blister.

Remove the peppers from the pain and drain on some paper towel. Sprinkle liberally with salt. Eat hot or cold. Voila!
